Festival celtique de Québec 2017

The Festival Celtique de Quebec was held in the Domaine de Maizerets in Limoilou, Quebec, Canada on August 19th and 20th, 2017. A lot was planned for this very ambitious edition of the games. The beautiful setting of the Domaine des Maizerets gave way to a space for people to play outdoor games together and enjoy days full of interesting, diversified activities. The Festival Celtique de Quebec are the biggest Celtic francophone festival in North America. These games were special indeed! Visitors could participate in what is called a "parcours épicurien", they would visit merchants on St-Jean street in Quebec city that would share a wealth of local culinary delights . Snacks and alcoholic beverages were included for a set price! The Vinland vikings were present at the Festival Celtique and entertained people with arts and crafts, tale-telling and Scandinavian culture and customs. There were very popular Whisky tastings and a very interesting mythical village that offered characters from Irish, Breton and Scandinavian mythology and legends. The 78th fraser Highlanders where offering us some good bagpiping and the Scottish clans were there to receive you. There were many Scottish athletic events such as the open stone toss and heavy weight toss taking place that drew crowds. This festival had the Braemar stone toss, something we don't see very much. It was pleasant to see something different at Scottish games.

On the second day of the festival, Clan Logan noticed a lot of people everywhere. It was very busy indeed!!We enjoyed being with  Clan Macleod, Lindsay and MacNicoll. The Quebec genealogical society was also there to greet people and answer questions. Clan Logan enjoyed sharing with people from the area. We got a few visitors that were new members pop in and say hello. Raphael Blouin-Durand, one of our new members, came to receive his membership certificate and Joanie Gaumond, signed up to become an offical member with us. It was a very nice event for all of us to remember. We would like to thank Mr.guy Morriset, the President of this event who did a great job once again. Most of all, we thank the volunteers that gave their time and made this festival a really important touristic attraction. Clan Logan was honoured to have attended your event this year and hopes to be back very soon.
