10th annual AGM with the Scottish Society of Ottawa
by Steven Logan
In early morning on June 11th, 2022, I had the pleasure of participating
In the 10th annual Ottawa Scottish Society AGM. It was the first virtual meet-up event
that I've had with them. Clan Logan had previously participated in their
Hogman-eh! event which was a resounding success.

It started out on a nice social note allowing various members to exchange. The attendees were pleased to see I was there. I had a chance to meet up with Patrick, our Clan Logan representative of Ontario who presented me to the group. There was a call to order and welcome, approval of agenda as well as a review of the year. A singer performed Caledonia before the meeting began.

It was very nice to meet various people in this Society and seeing each person’s contributions. During the AGM, Jane Torrance, the President of the Ottawa Scottish Society, mentioned that Clan Logan was very well represented in Ottawa. She also spoke of various topics from special events held by Director Liz Smith to the Kiltskate. She also talked about successful whisky tasting events done by the Ottawa Society. Jane warmly thanked Don Cummer who started the Kiltskate for his implication as he is departing from their board. This year, Ottawa became the Kiltskate capital of Canada. Other people are also leaving after many years for various reasons which will lead to a renewal within their organization.

Our Representative of Ontario, Patrick is thinking of getting involved with the Ottscots
which would give an added presence to our Clan that needs it. I am also hoping, as I do events
with them, that I can interest them in joining us at CASSOC as having them as a member would be a really good thing for us. I won't be able to do many live events in Ottawa as it would require traveling from Montreal and back but if I can attend and lend Patrick a hand, I will look into it. I always try to be present for my Representatives!

The AGM ended on a nice note. I think it is important to get involved with people in other places and see if Clan Logan can grow and gain members in the National capital.
