On Saturday January 18th 2020 was the annual Ottawa Kilts Skate event at Lansdowne Park located at 1525 Princess Patricia Way, from 1PM- 2PM, organized by The Ottawa Scottish Society. I was delighted to attend as the representative of the Clan Logan for Ontario and to witness that despite the frigid winter conditions, there were many courageous souls who braved the cold, skating wearing their kilts, and others with three layers of clothing proudly wearing their various tartan and sashes on top. Amongst the crowd of approximately 30, we had the pleasure to have a special visitor; our very own mayor, Mr. Jim Watson, himself being a Scott. He gave a brief allocution thanking the Association for keeping the Scottish traditions alive. At some point, I was given a Scottish flag which was attached to a hockey stick! I thought it was quite a coup to combine two cultures; Canadians and Scotts united!. It was a fun event that Clan Logan will most certainly attend again in the future.
