Ottawa Scottish Society Burns night event

ottBurns1.PNG

On Saturday, January 23rd, The Ottawa Scottish Society celebrated Scotland's National Bard, Robert Burns. Clan Logan attended the event all dressed up to celebrate and enjoyed a nice plate of traditional Haggis Neeps and Tatties.

The evening started with the presentation of the film, primordial Waters and followed with the program of the evening. We were delighted by the sounds of the pipes of The Ottawa Cameron Highlanders (Duke of Edinburgh's Own).Lieutenant-Colonel Carl Gauthier was the master of ceremony for this 3rd annual Gala Robbie Burns supper that was very different from years past since it was done virtually.

We had a Selkirk Grace done by Rev. Dr.Karen Dimock of  St-Andrew's Presbyterian Church and Ronald Roach performed the address to a haggis. Clan Logan was entertained with the Fiddlaires. Young and talented Wilson, 10 years old and Lucy, 8 years old gave us a spotless fiddling performance that impressed everyone at the event. The Scottish television and film actor Graham Mctavish from the series Outlander gave a very good immortal memory of Burns. There was much footage of various Scottish dancers representing the Ottawa Highland dance Association performing and it all concluded with footage of people doing traditional Scottish country dances done by the Royal Scottish Country dancing Association. There was a toast to the Lassies and a toast to the laddies and Auld Lang Syne. This year's event was different that those of years past but Clan Logan really enjoyed attending. We would  like to thank the Ottawa Scottish Society for this memorable Burns night we will always remember.
